For over two decades, Spring Drive has embodied Grand Seiko’s pursuit of perfectly smooth timekeeping—its signature seconds hand gliding silently across the dial. The new Caliber 9RA5-UFA elevates this harmony of mechanical craftsmanship and electronic control to unprecedented levels.

Through an enhanced integrated circuit, optimized quartz oscillator, and advanced temperature compensation system, Grand Seiko engineers have reduced time deviation to just ±20 seconds per year—ten times more precise than traditional Spring Drive movements.

Inspired by the Shinshu Winter Sky

The frosted blue dial of the SLGB003 captures the soft light and stillness of Shinshu’s winter mornings, where each Grand Seiko Spring Drive is born. Subtle vertical hairline textures evoke snow-covered slopes under the clear sky. The tempered blue seconds hand moves effortlessly across the surface, a serene expression of time’s natural flow.

Encased in high-intensity titanium, the SLGB003 is both robust and lightweight, finished with Grand Seiko’s renowned Zaratsu polishing to achieve distortion-free mirror surfaces.
