A Rare Masterpiece: Vacheron Constantin’s Métiers d’Art Tribute to the Quest of Time

Vacheron Constantin has unveiled one of its most captivating creations yet: the Métiers d’Art – Tribute to the Quest of Time, a timepiece that brings together centuries of artistry, cutting-edge mechanics, and a deep reverence for astronomy.
Released to mark the Maison’s 270th anniversary, this limited edition of just 20 pieces stands as both a technical milestone and a poetic expression of horology at its highest level.
A Masterpiece Three Years in the Making

The watch, featuring a double sapphire dial, underwent three years of development and is powered by the new manually wound Calibre 3670. This feat of miniaturisation incorporates 512 components, 55 jewels, and four patent applications. A notable highlight is the combination of a high frequency of 5 Hertz (36,000 vibrations per hour) and three barrels that deliver a power reserve of six days (144 hours).
One of its most striking features is the double retrograde time display, where a golden human figure uses its arms to indicate the hours and minutes. The wearer can choose between a continuous display or an on-demand mode activated by a discreet pusher—an ingenious complication inspired by the legendary Bras en l’Air pocket watch of 1930.
The Sky Above Geneva in 1755

A celestial map recreates the exact sky as seen from Geneva on September 17, 1755—the day of Vacheron Constantin’s founding. This tableau is brought to life with a hand-finished titanium human figure, a three-dimensional moon phase accurate to 29.5 days, and finely crafted arcs in 18K gold for the retrograde indications.
The reverse dial reveals a sky chart with sidereal time, laser-engraved into sapphire crystal. This astronomical display is so precise that it will remain accurate to within one day over the next 9,130 years.
Craftsmanship Meets Innovation
Vacheron Constantin has long been a champion of the Métiers d’Art, blending ancient craftsmanship with modern decorative techniques. On this piece, traditional hand-engraving, sandblasting, and patina finishes meet cutting-edge PVD treatments and sapphire metallisation.
Every one of the movement’s 512 components has been hand-finished, earning the watch the prestigious Poinçon de Genève certification.
